Well, choosing *Best software* of given kind is more similar to
choosing Miss Universe / World than you may would say.
Both have objective absolute parameters ( speed, size, memory
requirement, feature enumeration versus height / weight /
breast-waist-hips metric )
Both have subjective relative parameters ( like / dislike GUI, lack of
features, not needed features, comfort, feelings, personal need,
requirements, demand, ... versus charm, education, wisdom,
cheerfulness, sense of humours, warm supporting feeling, any other not
measurable attributes )
Both have subjective weighting of all those parameters. For both
subjective ones - it is obvious - and for objective one too. Implicit
and explicit including / excluding of parameters is also weighting.
As result, the order according to criteria can never be absolute,
unless there is only one and objective absolute parameter.
A girl chosen to be a Miss World has higher probability than average
girl that I will consider her pretty and beautiful. But no certainty -
sometimes there is something I do not like on her at the first sight,
and many of my she-friend I can consider more pretty.
A software chosen as an editor pick of various magazines, or as
personal pick of various skilled individuals have better chance to be
chosen by end user as their choice.
Considering the Miss as the most beautiful girl of the World is
foolishness. And the same is valid for software.
